You can be saving money with cents off coupons.
Everyone has seen those manufacturer coupons either in the stores, Sunday newspaper insert, or magazine. Most of us have even used one at various times when we have been shopping. We save a few pennies on our purchase but if we really knew how to use those scraps of paper, we’d find that the price we paid for some items would be greatly reduced.
If you decide that you want to save between 10 and 30 percent on your total grocery and paper goods purchases you have that ability by using coupons.
Getting started:
There are a few simple tricks to really making use of your coupons and and making the most of your time dollar wise requires a little time allotted to cutting coupons, and filing them away.
You will need access to more coupons than the single inserts in your paper. Ideally if you can find at least 9 or 10 extra inserts you..neighbors or friends might save you their coupons if you ask. I inquired at a couple of small local markets, which saved me the newspapers that didn’t sell on Sunday. Generally, I had between 7 and 15 sets of coupon inserts. Sounds like a lot? Sometimes it is but then again maybe not.
I would look the coupons over and decide which ones I would never use. Products I didn’t like, or would never have use for. The other ones I would clip and put in a small file folder. Paper goods in one portion, coupons for soaps in another and so one. You will end up with coupons for several brand name products in each category.
The shopping plan:
Every daily newspaper has the weekly sales flyers , they consist of various grocery store sales, sales at drug stores and various department stores.
Combine your coupons with sales to really lower the price of an Item, sometimes large chain stores will run a store coupon on an already reduced product. Many times you may also use a manufacturers coupon as well. Now you have two large discounts on a sales item. The result is a product that can end up at half price or less. This is where having the extra coupons is really nice. You can buy several of these items and you now have saved a substantial amount. Paper goods are easily stored, have no shelf life and you will use them.
Coupons can save you money but if you plan their use you will save even more.
I've purchased cereal for $1.00 a box rather than $2.75, using a coupon on a sales item. I have “bought” candy bars with a try one free coupon…By having a number of coupons I ended up with over 20 bars that cost me nothing…regular price was $.69 each.
I found coupons in a local drug store for $1.00 on fingernail polish, that brand of polish was reduced to 99 cents. I bought 10 bottles for my granddaughter for nothing. Then we have those 'buy one get one free sales"
Use those coupons on those 2 for 1 sales. This really works nicely when each item is sold at half price, add two coupons and you may might just really have a buy!
I've made great savings on items such as shampoos and conditioners with cents off coupons used during a sale where the total cost was less than a quarter a bottle. These were products I use for but bought many bottles and took the extras to a local food bank.
