Clothing is simple. When first starting out all you need is a good ski jacket, over pants and a decent pair of gloves…. These should all be waterproof. A set of long underwear, warm socks, warm sweater and a pair of goggles finish off the clothing list.
Your ski equipment can easily be rented either at the lodge or resort you plan on visiting. In a lot of cases rentals can be obtained a numerous local outlets or stores aright in the community you live in. This is probably the best as you can skip the lines at the resorts. However, if you plan on taking lessons the equipment usually is part of the ski package.
Make sure you arrive early enough to be fitted prior to the class start time. Sometimes there can be a substantial line so be early and be patient.
If skiing seems like a great recreational activity that suits you, then you will probably want to outfit yourself with your own skis, boots and poles. There are several ways to go about this. The first is to go to a local ski shop and buy everything new. You can also use online shopping to aquire your equipment. Many times this is more cost effective and you will be able to upgrade with the savings or have a greater sellection than is available in most cities.
Some stores may even have good equipment on consignment that might fit your needs. You might even look to discount stores and check out last year’s ski equipment. Many times these can be purchased at tremendous discounts.

Depending on your location you may also find ski equipment swap meets. These will have a wide variety of equipment for all lskill levels. Meets are great if you are starting children into the sport. Replacing skis and boots are a necessity with growing children, as they can quickly outgrow boots and even skis during a season.
Most people grow into their sport, gaining skill and expertise with every outing. Skiing is no exception, as this happens you will feel the need to upgrade your equipment to allow you to enjoy your skiing experience to the utmost.
