Winter sports, specifically skiing, are big recreational activities in the western states. The region from the Rocky Mountains to the pacific coast has varied and numerous mountainous areas that are snow rich through out the winter months.. These are the hubs for all outdoor winter activities that require snow. Within these areas are a number of resorts and communities with many amenities available for the skier, snowboarder and snowmobile riders.
Most resorts provide basic ski instruction, rental equipment and have slopes that are appropriate for everyone’s abilities. It makes no difference whether you are a beginner or the highly skilled advanced skier your will be able to find that perfect snow and slopes. Some of these resorts are famous destination spots for the skiing community world wide, while others are smaller with largely local users. Whether you want an upscale, high end, ski resort or that friendly slower paced facility in which to learn to ski or quietly relax, these mountain states can provide everything you need.
That is the wonderful part of this sport. Most of us can find good winter sports within a few hours drive for our homes. These outdoor winter activities can be very family friendly or a enjoyable vacation for the adult. Some of the higher elevation destinations also have an extended ski season depending on the year and snow amounts. Imagine skiing in May or June, shirtsleeves and snow….sweet..
