Have you considered Canada for an unforgettable fishing holiday?
For the person who wants to try somewhere new, you might think about fishing off the Coast of British Columbia. You would find everything from pacific salmon to various bottom fish, or spend time on the rivers of Vancouver Island and fish for trophy-sized steelhead or salmon.
For something really different for those of us in the northwest, a trip to northern Saskatchewan one of the many pristine lakes with big fish might be that ‘special vacation’. Here you will find trophy pike and muskies as well as huge lake trout and Arctic Grayling.
Along with great fishing you will also experience the solitude that only comes with shores and quiet waters that are not crowded with other anglers. No elbow to elbow fishing here, just miles of beautiful water and strong feisty fish.
These trips can be a simple no frills fishing vacation or a fully guided package with fantastic shore lunches and first class accommodations in a wonderful resort.
Check out the lodges and outfitters. Ask what is provided, how many people per guide, lakes or rivers fished, and species that are available. When interviewing the guide don’t forget to ask about weather conditions and suggested gear you might need to provide yourself. Identify costs related to your trip and stay at the lodge if applicable. This includes lodging and guide fees, licenses. Don’t forget gratuities for your guide and other staff members.
Plan the best method or route to get to your destination. Will your trip be a fly in or can you drive? Travel agents can help you or in some cases the outfitter can plan your itinerary if you need help with that part of the trip planning.
If there is the possibility of you wanting to have a mount done of your trophy fish ask about local taxidermists or what is involved to transporting your catch back home, and any related fees.
For the fishing enthusiast it is this type of experience that could be the trip of a lifetime. It may require a bit of planning but the experience would be well worth the effort.
You will need to research requirements such as licenses, identification and possible need for passports and any other things you that should be a wear of.
